If you'd asked me a little while ago, I would have voted off The Red Chord, who I didn't particularly care for. But, while I was stoked to rediscover some of my love for Despised Icon, they've gotten pretty old and stale after only a short time, whereas The Red Chord are actually growing on me. So...

Despised Icon

Despised Icon

Fused Together in Revolving Doors is the one album from this list I'll probably keep in my library - it actually feels like they're making music and not just trying to be the most brutal. Despised Icon seem the most typically deathcore of the list, with pig squeals etc. DI are sounding better to me now that I've had a chance to listen with headphones, I listen to a lot of metal while driving, and some of the really low detuned riffing gets muddied with the engine noise. I still prefer Red Chord though.

Yeah, Despised Icon. I liked the album but it didn't stick in the same way that Fused Together did.

Alright, a couple announcements. I will be retaking this thread from the tyranny of TLP. He's done a great job, but the king must descend from on high to take back control of his kingdom. Tech's got enough on his plate with Rock Album Survivor anyway.

Also, I'm gonna be adding some more lists. I know I said I was done, but **** it. I got drunk, did some ****, woke up, didn't hate it. First order of business is to make deathcore a full ten-band list. I will actually put in effort to include good albums this time. The extra five bands will only be added once this round is through, since I don't want to **** with ****, and since it was supposed to end anyway, if no one wants to listen to five more albums then we can just forget the whole thing and give it to the band that would have won in the first place.

Next five deathcore bands...

6. Burning Skies - Desolation
7. Animosity - Animal
8. Ted Maul - White Label
9. The Contortionist - Exoplanet
10. After the Burial - Rareform

I'm in the process of listening to the few albums on the Groove list that I haven't heard yet, but after that's done I'd be up with hearing more Deathcore providing it's worth a listen. What other lists are being added?

Death thrash, prog thrash, first wave black metal, and death/doom possibly. And yeah, I'd say those deathcore albums are worth listening to. Especially Ted Maul, After the Burial, and Animosity.

All of those sound like good battles to me, especially first wave of black metal since I pretty much jumped right into the second wave when I started listening to the genre. Does this mean no Venom in the wild card battle anymore?

Also, Vektor is a must for prog thrash.

Can we make a whole category for Melvins?

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.
