Again, "Wild Card" is not "Avant Garde Pt. 2". It's for albums that either didn't fit in other battles or just slipped through the cracks but deserve a shot anyway.

Carcass
This is the third battle Carcass has been in, and only the first time they've ever come anywhere close to winning, so I'd be kind of rooting for them if I didn't love Slaughter of the Soul so much.

Everyone else is with the program. Why can't get with it?

It was a tough decision - I've been listening to both albums a lot over the past few days. I'd say At The Gates has the more coherent album, but I like the touches of chaotic mania in Heartwork, maybe a remnant of their pathological goregrind past. Also I find Heartwork more interesting throughout - Slaughter of the Soul starts out with some awesome songs but the second half of the album doesn't reach the same heights for me.
