Voting on the current round ends tonight, so I just want to make sure everyone put their votes in.

Also, I don't want to keep adding sub-genres, lest fatigue set in, but I was wondering if there was enough interest in a combined funeral doom/drone battle. Some good bands are getting left out, and I don't want to do them a disservice. William said way back in the beginning that he needed five members to participate in a battle, so if at least five people are legitimately interested then I can do that.

Funeral Doom / Drone would replace the current Doom Metal category, right? I think that's an okay idea, a more inclusive list wouldn't hurt, what would we throw in / remove from the current list?

Also, I still think it's rather silly that we're excluding Kyuss - Welcome to Sky Valley from the Stoner / Sludge category:

I don't want to be calling Google the be-all-end-all genre king but ****, Welcome to Sky Valley is such a classic and plenty heavy, if Melvins can get away with tracks like Lizzy, Goin' Blind, and some of the more experimental tracks in the final act of Houdini I think Kyuss can get away with their less heavy tracks. I don't think anyone would raise a stink if we booted off Baroness or Ufomammut, we know they're going to be the first to go if they stay.

Funeral doom/drone wouldn't be replacing regular doom. They're far too different for it to make sense to put Ahab or Khanate up against Candlemass. I wouldn't put Metallica against Suffocation either.

And I had Kyuss in the stoner category for a little while, but I had too many legitimate metal bands who deserved to be up there, so I cut them. Otherwise I'd then be worrying about other stoner rock bands.

Oh, and what would you consider Danzig? They're not quite doom, or trad, or sludge, but I'd love to add them to something. Maybe they could work in alt metal somehow?

I could see Danzig next to Type O, Reverend Bizzare, Candlemass, and Saint Vitus before I could see them next to Soundgarden, Prong, and Rage Against the Machine. But I see what you mean, it's ****y, they're too fast for doom but too doom for alt. I'm going to haunt you to the grave over placing Baroness and Ufomammut over Kyuss.

I just see Danzig as having too much of a blues edge to really fit into doom. It makes them kissing cousins, but I think their singular sound qualifies them as alternative in the sense that they fit into no real category. Danzig I at least, isn't doom. After that, maybe...

I could be persuaded to kick off Ufomammut, since I'm not as big a fan of that kind of thing as some, but I know they're fawned over by those that are, so I included them. And **** you. They never really released anything as solid as their debut, but Baroness' Red Album is amazing.

Well, Priest's quest for vengeance is over as they are gone. Judas Priest went out in the third round. Weird. Not that I didn't vote for them myself, but still weird.

Next round...

7. Mercyful Fate - Don't Break the Oath
6. Accept - Balls to the Wall
5. Motorhead - Ace of Spades
4. Saxon - Denim and Leather
3. Dio - Holy Diver
2. Iron Maiden - Powerslave
1. Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell

Vote 3 off. Round ends February 7.
