Botch got more votes outright, so that's out.

2. Arkangel - Dead Man Walking
1. Converge - Jane Doe

Vote 1 off. Vote ends January 29.

SUGGEST ME AN ALBUM - I'm probably not going to listen to it but I will if you bother me enough.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

****. I never really thought this day would come. I mean, I love Arkangel, and I've converted a lot of people, but I never ever thought it would end up in the top two. My heart goes with Arkangel just because of how much it's ruled my soul, but Jane Doe has as well, even if to a lesser extent. One is brutal and easy to digest, while the other is brutal but more of something to "get". As far as band quality goes, Converge are the clear winners, but Dead Man Walking is still the most listened to album on my Last.FM page, and has propelled the band into my most listened to artist all by itself. Will have to give this at least a little thought, but I think my answer is still a foregone conclusion.

Whatever the outcome, I will hold no hard feelings.

One thing that I think goes unnoticed by those unmoved by Arkangel is just how epic their sound is. Not only do they have brutal breakdowns, but the build up to them creates a tower of emotional brutality that crushes all in their path.

I feel like Arkangel is like Slayer. If nobody had been told that Reign in Blood was the greatest thrash album ever, then a lot of people would have just said that it was awesomely brutal, but simplistic and not on the same level of Master of Puppets, but since they have been told that it is the best thrash album of all time, they are comfortable basking in the pure brutality without thinking about time signature changes and progressive whatnot.

Arkangel might not be as innovative as Slayer, or as progressive as Metallica, but Dead Man Walking is pure, immediate aggression in a way that 99.9% of bands just can't touch in any way shape or form. It's just hate personified, musically interesting or not. I'm totally comfortable putting it in the list of my fav metal albums of all time, along with When the Kite String Pops, Powerslave, and Reign in Blood.

So my vote is for Converge.

Seasons in the Abyss is their best album anyway.

What does all that have to do with all the other albums being better

It definitely has my fav Slayer song, "Seasons in the Abyss", but it feels too much like Slayer-by-the-numbers to really grab me like their Show No Mercy-to-Reign in Blood albums. It's like they realized that a lot of their fans at the time didn't like South of Heaven, so they made it more like Reign in Blood.

Because Dead Man Walking is better than them. Haven't you been paying attention to how your earlier protestations have been proven wrong?

You spelled War Ensemble wrong.
