4. Turisas - The Varangian Way
5. Falkenbach - Ok nefna tysvar ty
6. Bathory - Nordland I

Yeah, they're definitely folk metal. Plenty of these folk metal bands have progressive elements, which shouldn't be surprising considering how it would help a band to incorporate folk elements into a genre of music which might otherwise be at odds with it. And pretty much all their albums are on RYM's folk metal chart, so I'm gonna go with **** you.

From the horse's mouth:

Something beyond melodic death metal, black metal and folk metal

Orphaned Land Official Website | www.orphaned-land.com

But yeah, they do incorporate elements of folk metal. I would always see them more as a prog metal band though. Interestingly, they actually describe themselves as "Oriental Metal". Stick that in your bong and meditate upon it!

A.) A band's description of their sound is always dubious, as they like to think of themselves as "beyond" pigeonholing genres much of the time. And they still mentioned folk metal, so suck that.

B.) Prog metal or folk metal, they're still folk metal.

C.) Oriental metal sounds like a variety of folk metal to me.

A) Eat me
B) Eat me
C) Eat me

I was, you may have noticed, actually more or less agreeing with you. But they're still prog metal to me. Excellent band, any way you slice it.

SUGGEST ME AN ALBUM - I'm probably not going to listen to it but I will if you bother me enough.

What would zydeco sound like fused with extreme metal? I'm very curious now.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.
