Reread what I said. I said nobody outside of music nerds remembers any hardcore bands EXCEPT for Black Flag.

And Suicidal Tendencies will always be remembered in skate crowds & the Barrio. The song Institutionalized still shows up on Skateboarding video games.

Translation: People who don't care about the scene only remember Black Flag.

I find myself actually digging Bring Me the Horizon's early work. They have a sense of melody that so many of their derivative, knockoff peers had no concept of, and trashy deathcore can still be fun in small doses.

Pretty much. I accept that groups like Integrity and Ringworm are perhaps too hardcore for a metal battle, and wouldn't be remembered if not for their association with the metalcore genre -- though bands like Unbroken, Snapcase, and Poison the Well still hold up to the best of pure hardcore -- so Ringworm can be dropped, but I still think metalcore is a genre with too much quality to disrespect it by making it a joke, or at least I respect it enough that I'm not willing to give the good bands the shaft. Maybe a five band battle for melodic metalcore at the end, but I won't give it the name "metalcore".

I dig Ringworm and while I'm quite aware of their hybridization of Metal & Hardcore I don't see them as "metalcore" maybe its just because I been conditioned to think of crap like AS and the rest of that slop as metalcore . Ringworn is a cool band.

Alright, so Opeth are band definitely being voted out this time. I don't think we've had one tie this entire round.

4. Fates Warning - A Pleasant Shade of Gray
3. Death - Symbolic
2. Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime
1. Mastodon - Blood Mountain

Vote 2 off. Vote ends December 11.
