I will totally take any chance I can to bring back the metalcore battle, so if you're willing to listen to these albums, then at least we could have half the necessary participants (four at least). If only Mondo were still a regular on this forum then we'd only need one more, as he recognizes the truth of good metalcore. As it is, I'll still try to throw Converge and Dillinger Escape Plan into the Wild Card battle, so at least those two are worth listening to. There's simply no way I am going to let Converge's Jane Doe not be in this thread. Even if the Wild Card battle fails, I'll still throw it in to the Finals as a personal choice, and anyone who has anything to say about it can find a new thread.
Metalcore 1. Converge - Jane Doe 2. Poison the Well - The Opposite of December 3. Protest the Hero - Fortress 4. Unearth - The Oncoming Storm 5. Dillinger Escape Plan - Ire Works 6. Earth Crisis - Destroy the Machines 7. Integrity - Humanity Is the Devil 8. Botch - We Are the Romans 9. Snapcase - Progression Through Unlearning 10. Unbroken - Life. Love. Regret

BTW, deathcore is universally hated, but would a five band battle have any interest? Even as a joke battle?

Sure, why not. It'll be a lesser of evils sort of thing.

Make it fun by putting in all the big cheesy commercial bands, whereby some of them actually make good music. 1. Killswitch Engage 2. Bullet for my Valentine 3. All that Remains 4. Bring me the Horizon 5. Parkway Drive 6. August Burns red 7. The Devil Wears Prada 8. Bleeding Through 9. As I lay Dying 10. Avenged Sevenfold!!! I doubt anyone will want to play this either, but you never know you might get some takers. I'll play the folk metal, it's a genre I'd like to explore a bit more, so please put down the notable bands and albums. |

And who would actually want to vote in a battle with Avenged Sevenfold, As I Lay Dying, and Bullet for My ****ing Valentine? As far as I'm concerned, nobody voted in my battle merely because they had never heard of many of them, not because there were boring.

Other than Dillinger Escape Plan and Evenged Sevenfold I've never even heard of any of these. Since ES sucks I'll vote off everyone except DEP.

But whatever I'm just saying make it fun with some big names people recognize, kind of like the glam metal survivor. |

If people don't remember the good metalcore bands, it's because of those same ones on your list (not to mention that in the 90s, hardcore kids didn't like metal, metal kids didn't like hardcore, and everybody else liked Pearl Jam). Your list ruined an entire genre of music, and I have no desire to honor them on my thread, even as a joke. I'll happily do deathcore as a joke, since they never ruined death metal, but Bullet for My Valentine aren't coming anywhere near here.

That's because there a band I could never be bothered to listen to lol
People remember Suicidal because they were a thrash band, otherwise they would just be one more nameless hardcore band lost to the sands of time, and nobody else but music fans really remembers anybody but Black Flag. [/QUOTE] WTF!! You got to get your head out of metal world, Black Flag is iconic!, I still see young teenagers and bands wearing their t-shirts. There more fondly remembered than a commercial glam metal band like Motley Crue. (though I like the latter much better) And Suicidal Tendencies will always be remembered in skate crowds & the Barrio. The song Institutionalized still shows up on Skateboarding video games. |
