I am now regretful that I used Awaken the Guardian for Fates Warning. Apart from the fact that I find it inferior to their later work, and that it is considered by many to not even be a prog metal album, I believe that there is a sizable portion of their fanbase and prog metal fans in general who hold their later work in higher regard, so unless there are any objections, I'd like to use one of their later albums to go up against the otherwise winner of this battle in a one off that I will not repeat.

I do not intend to change battles when they are already underway, but Fates Warning is one of the gods of prog metal, and so I think that a crime has been committed by including the album that I did, so I feel that it is justified to make this one and only exception. If most agree to this, then A Pleasant Shade of Grey will be added to the list upon the "finish" of this battle.

Or I could just add it now.

SUGGEST ME AN ALBUM - I'm probably not going to listen to it but I will if you bother me enough.

I guess, but I kind of don't like the idea of adding an album in the middle of a battle. Maybe that's just my OCD, though. I leave it to you, since my OCD prevents me from making a rational decision. If I weren't drunk I would never even have suggested this. At the very least we should wait till this round is over obviously.

I mean, I think it would be better to get it in there with all of the other competitors. Otherwise, it will be like, hey, here's this random album we decided to shoehorn in here, have at it!

Then do it. Or I'll do it. But realistically, given recent history, you do it. I'm sure you can understand my predicament. It's just a crime to exclude post-Awaken the Guardian Fates Warning just because RYM has its head up its ass. Out of fairness to the albums which have survived this long though, we should assume that it's at the bottom of the votes count. Or just give it the previous Fates Warning's votes count. I don't know. I can't remember how long ago it was voted off.

It's your job to account for your drunken employer, so just deal with it. I'll give you a raise. Or I'll just let you choose the next battle. It's about that time anyway.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone who says Queensrÿche aren't progressive needs to go listen to Rage For Order or The Warning. Those are the two albums that established them as THE progressive metal band of the 80's, so much so that even Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and others were borrowing from their playbook by the end of the decade. I don't think the Ray Alder-era of Fates Warning or Dream Theater would exist without them either. Operation: Mindcrime has some legit proggy moments on it like the 10-minute 'Suite Sister Mary' or closer 'Eyes Of A Stranger', but it isn't the reason why they're considered to be influential.

My vote: Voivod & Opeth

I have boh Warning and Rage For Order.. not what I consider prog at all. If they are prog then so is Black Sabbath with their jazzy swing time rhythm signatures & Iron Maiden with their fast early Genesis with balls and edge attitude

Just saying... there are a lot of sort of proggish bands that i don't consider actual prog bands.

You are literally the only person I have ever heard who has compared Maiden to Genesis!

Iron Maidens timing sigs are actually quite proggy ...although more by way of an early Rush influence who were influenced heavily by early Genesis. So it may sound funny to you but musicians will understand my meaning. Metal itself is quite 70s prog influenced either directly or indirectly.
