Of course, if me and wpnfire didn't do anything, you know these battles would take almost 50% longer.

Most people here know that The Batlord usually never finishes what he starts, so thanks to you two the thread stays updated.

You're just bitter that Metal Wars is dead, while mine waves the metal flag high.

I'm thinking that when these survivor wars are over that you, Technic and Wpnfire should take it over as Metal Wars was as popular as this thread back when I was doing it. It just needs a dedicated person or persons to make it work again.

Multiple people, myself included, have since tried to revive it, but there has just been little interest. Even when I tried putting up battles between albums that would actually interest people, the participation was still weak or even nonexistent. With my experiences in my thread of what genres seem to generate the most interest, I might give it another go. Thrash, trad, proto, and apparently glam metal seem to get the most involvement, whereas extreme metal is often ignored by many. Don't know why, since extreme metal is one of the more popular genres around here. I guess the more accessible genres are just more likely for non-metal fanatics to be at least somewhat educated in. Maybe there's a way to turn the two threads into sort of sister threads. Discussion on Metal Survivor generally tends to be minimal, even when participation is relatively high, while battles in Metal Wars had higher rates of non-vote posts. I think it's probably due to the amount of albums in my thread, whereas the two or three albums posted in yours were easier to focus on. Most of the discussion in mine was usually generated by the back-and-forth by me, Frownland, Mondo, and a few others when I was still making and fine-tuning my lists. Otherwise it's mostly just vote posts.

It needs as said one or two people, or another strong idea is a group of say 12 people who can chair it for one month of the year and run it how they want and when their month is up it passes over to somebody else, so whatever way you look at it it is never too high a burden for anybody. As a pointer I think anybody that is used to writing a journal could easily chair this kind of project and inject ideas into it. I admit it's kind of strange about some of the extreme metal genres getting less interest as they are normally the metal genres that most people on here seem really into.

The problem was that even the first battle we'd throw up would get one, maybe two responses at best, and you can't even finish a single round like that. So the attempted revival would die almost the day it started.

So instead of metal wars a different metal community project could be started but this would need some kind of though process injected into it.

I feel a poll coming on....
I know what Batty means though. Myself, Frown, Dr Rezz and others tried to revive the "Weekly Mixtape" thread and all had to slink away with our tails between our legs. Sometimes people just are not prepared to put the time in. However I agree with you that whoever is running it needs to keep on point, as people will of course think, well if he/she (who am I kidding? It's he!) isn't going to bother then why should I? You need some sort of basic commitment from one or more people that they will keep it going, and nudge people and bug them to remember to vote, as Batty does with his Survivor thread. Most of the time, people here need a good kick up the arse otherwise they'll just sit on the couch and veg all day (no offence Batty; I know you're working now) and for these things to work, as I found out with the PRAC (RIP) and the HMAC (also RIP) you have to hustle, bother, annoy and push people all the time, or they will let it die.
