You know what, whatever. You guys are clearly in the position we all call,"Not getting it". Just use Images and Words. I'd rather see Dream Theater in there at all than put their best album there.

By the way, I think we should start the Rock Album Survivor after we're done with Metal Album Survivor.

1.) I've heard plenty of Dream Theater. It's not wank because it isn't heavy enough, it's wank because it's technical for the sake of being technical at the expense of the songs.

Don't get all defensive. People hate bands they dislike immensely. That's what subjective musical opinion is about. If I just don't get Dream Theater, then I'd say you also just don't get Celtic Frost.

I wasn't trying to be defensive, my actual goal was to hold up a white flag.
By the way, I'm in the interesting position that if I listen to something a few times, I'll be hooked pretty much no matter what. The reason I was looking at the bad side of Celtic Frost is because I had to. At this point in the competition, I can't look for redeeming factors, so instead, I'm looking for absolutely anything I don't like about the album. I just don't like Celtic Frost as much, for whatever reason.

Also, I don't think making a song more technically involved necessarily makes it worse. In fact, people usually think of it the opposite way. But whatever, to each their own.

I don't think being technical makes music worse, anymore than I think simplicity is necessarily better. I just can't stand pointless wankery like Dream Theater or Yngwie Malmsteen.

Nah. Do whatever serves the music. If you can make a guitar stand on its head, but the kind of music you're making doesn't require technical proficiency or complexity, then you're just stroking your ego rather than being creative. The members of Bad Brains were in a jazz fusion band before becoming a hardcore punk band, and they didn't make prog punk just cause they could.
