Go touch yourself while you listen to Manowar or Blind Guardian, but Primus is tits and we both know it. Must be why you don't get it.

No, the music is just kind of there and the vocals try so hard to sound goofy and annoying that they are.

Just curious, are you a fan of any of Beefheart or Residents material? Those are larger influences on Primus's style than any metal or rock group, so I imagine that they pull in a lot more people like me than people who don't initially have interest in out there music.

What I love about this track:
Fun as hell
Claypool clearly has a terrible voice, but he takes the Lou Reed approach and relies more on phrasing and new approach as opposed to trying to pretend he has a good voice
That bassline
The texture of the main guitar riff when it does those seconds/near unisons
The interplay between the stringed instruments when the guitar jumps in is something that you don't see in many metal groups
I mean just listen to that ****, if you don't like it you're clearly a stick in the mud

Who cares? His voice is boring and annoying.

Certainly not awful, but I still don't care.

I care even less.

A bunch of instruments I don't care about aren't going to make me care by doing **** together.

Either that or avant garde fans are no better than prog fans when trying to justify their music by describing boring minutiae.

Why you seem to think I owe you an explanation, I can only assume to be down to your desire to appear superior and artsy fartsy. Kind of implies a superficial sense of self-esteem if you ask me.
I brought that up because I was just confused by this statement:

So are you saying that justifying why I like the music by describing things in the music that I enjoy is a bad thing? How would you go about then? Also, Primus avant-garde? Try again.

In fact, I honestly think I would rather listen to Metal Machine Music than Primus. I can listen to MMM as background noise, which is something I can't do with something as intrusively annoying as Primus, and I have also decided that MMM is oddly pretty.
Well ja, I dig MMM more than Primus as it's one of my favourite albums so we agree there.

And no, I haven't listened to Beefheart or the Residents yet. I did listen to Safe as Milk about a million years ago (three or four) and remember liking it, but other than that, no.
What are you even doing with your life?

Granted, I feel like both groups are far more advanced than Primus (although some tracks on Pork Soda contend, which is why it would have been a better pick), but their influence on the music is blatant and maybe it'll help you get a taste for the style that you find boring. My dad is a Primus fan, so I've been listening to them all of my life so it's kind of baffling to me that someone doesn't find their music to be fun and eclectic since I never had to work to get into their style.

Hey Frown, didn't realize how much Primus was influenced by Beefheart.

Primus is great BTW.
