Boom Boom Satellites
I've been struggling with the decision of if I should place this in this part of the forum, in Electronica, or where World Music is a sub category. I decided on putting it here, because this band has enough Rock in their music for it to fit, even though they're a lot of genre's all at once...
Boom Boom Satellites has been my favorite foreign, or International band for almost ten years. They've been a band since the start of the 90's, and they create some beautiful, emotionally charged music, I have always been captivated by it. I just think there is so much depth to this band and the music they make, and I've been continually inspired by it. I do not consider this typical music at all from where they originate from, which is Tokyo, Japan. I am opening this thread to attempt opening some of your minds to something a little different. As I said, this band makes beautiful music, the scores or composition on so many of their songs is just truly beautiful and breathtaking. I wish I could find what is for the most part my favorite song from them, which is called Stay. I'll post up some music here of theirs. I hope some of you can connect with it, and hear what I hear in their music. And, one important thing to mention about this guys...their singer and mastermind Michiyuki Kawashima long time illness, which I believe is some form of cancer. So his fight for life is, especially with newer albums, very apparent in the lyrics, which mostly are from a positive outlook though sometimes the bleakness, or hopelessness does show up in the music. So it is inspiring to me. He does what he loves doing, in spite of what will likely be a terminal illness for him. Boom Boom Satellites, everyone. I'll start with their most recent song, off of their new album set to release soon. Notice his hair, the part that is shaved. I believe it was from a tumor they found in his brain, so there was the whole chemotherapy thing. Hopefully I recall this correctly, because I do remember reading that of him. Info is a bit hard to find, though. Few live songs here. I had a chance to see them in Portland, Oregon a few years ago, never got to. Hopefully I will this year. They put on some amazing shows. All around great musicians. I am including a live performance of their song Stay I spoke of earlier on in this OP, it's just such a beautiful, and powerful song. It f*cking gets me man, man tears every time. Last edited by CoNtrivedNiHilism; 01-12-2015 at 12:10 AM. |
