I certainly don't dismiss this POV like a lot of pro-choice people do---I think they just don't like letting uncertainty into their viewpoint---but ultimately, no matter how grey the debate, it's a binary issue. Just like you either are pregnant or not, you can't kind of abort, so, in the end it boils down to whether it's preferable to restrict the rights of an actual person or a fetus that doesn't even qualify as being technically alive. So I'm pro-choice.

When a fetus is developed enough to warrant having rights is open to interpretation, but abortion itself still a yes/no proposition.

My mom, who was born in 1930, was gay her whole life. If not for family and peer pressure, which forced her into trying a "normal" marriage, I wouldn't be here. She and my dad divorced when I was 2.

I kinda get how you feel.

I'm 100% pro-abortion but pro-choice people who try to pretend the fetus isn't even alive crack me up.

If it weren't alive you wouldn't have to kill it to stop it from growing.

So's an amoeba. The concept of life is overrated.

Fine.

I didn't say it's a life with any value.

Again, it isn't life to me unless it has consciousness.

How do you define consciousness?

Being aware? I've never met anyone who has memories of being in the womb.
