Rolling Stone is just a bone headed magazine that no one should take seriously, this list is exactly what I expected. Only put in classic revered albums because why would anyone want to see anything else, oh it would be such an outrage if something somewhat unknown made it on. The list represents the magazine absolute trash!
Sorry I get overzealous about these kinds of things sometimes, but I hate people who worship classic things for the sake of them being classic. |

Nostalgia industry, mate. I've got nothing to back it up, but I'm guessing most of Rolling Stone's subscribers are Baby Boomers. It's still a crappy list, but a smart business decision.

Rolling Stone lists tend to be dull. If you want real entertainment read the NME's lists.

I would assume that these old folks (I don't really like that term for some reason but it fits) who actually enjoy music would be even more passionate about busting this ****ty list. They've been around a bit longer and had more time to listen to half a million different things.

These lists are for the musically simple minded.
How do you rate one at 16 as opposed to 21, what's the criteria? More to the point, what for, other than commercial ends. Different genres, different eras, different demographic appeal....these lists are absolutely meaningless. |
