Default Wayne Static dead at 48

Static-X frontman has apparently died. I'm sure not a lot of people were big fans of him or his band, but I have always liked this group, especially in high school. This gets me down man, he was a cool dude and sorely under rated as a musician. Rest in piece, brother. Throwing up my horns for ya.

Very sad. I like Wisconsin Death Trip quite a bit.

Listened to Pighammer for the first time in honor, one of my favorite bands back in the day.

Never bought any of their albums, or listened to all that much of them, but I do remember bumping "Get to the Gone" and "Bled for Days" more than a few times back in the day. One of the few bands I listened to back in my pre-thrash metal days that I could still dig today.

They were steady on the playlist back in our disc-golfing heydays. Jammin WDT all the way to the course and back. My DG bud called me up the other day to tell me the sad news.

Well, sure is nice to see no bashing on the guy, haha I guess I figured there'd be a bit since I'm sure there are plenty here that dislike Static-X, anyway...

A lot of people were trying to say it was drug related, some as if they were there to see him do some sort of drug before he went to bed, but he was with his wife that entire day before they retired to call it a day. Plus, Wayne and his Pighammer album was a dedication to his sobriety from hard drugs or drugs in general. The dude was sober, and his wife said he was clean. Wayne died in his sleep, so I am happy he didn't die in pain or anything.

I always liked Static-X, honestly one of the the small number of nu-metal bands that took on far more influence from thrash to actually be more than a few steps above the blandness of their fellow genre mates. All in all, Static-X were always more thrash than nu-metal.

So yeah, I'm still more than bummed over this. Had hopes for a true Static-X reunion with original members and maybe one final album.

Just a note on the drug thing... I know people that have hung out with him in the past year who say him and his wife both were definitely on something. Just some food for thought. At least he was spreading a good message, even if he didn't practice what he preached.

Whatever the autopsy comes back with I will accept. I guess I am hoping that someone I looked up to, at least as a musician, actually kept his act clean despite rumors. We'll see.

RIP. I never listened to much of their music, but like someone said above, they definitely were a cut above their more popular nu-metal peers in terms of talent and musicianship.
