The debut isn't even in their top 3 best albums

Paranoid.

Just so you all know, the amount of votes for each album will contribute to my overall decision but will not be the last word. I'm going to be dissecting this in the same way that I did the two films. I used multiple criteria such as first released, stars, budget vs box office returns, characters, music and a whole lot more. My own vote is for the debut but we will see what my scientific method comes up with.

I only say this because I don't want anyone saying later something like "Hey, Paranoid had 40 votes versus Black Sabbath's 32 and you chose Black Sabbath!" Or whatever.

Voting for the Sabbath/Paranoid deathmatch seems to have fallen off, but at last count the debut was two points ahead. Anyone else wants to vote, feel free. The painstakingly worked out result will be in a few weeks' time.

Just to assure you all I have not forgotten your recommendations, but have been very busty (oops! Sorry! Thought I was Vanilla there for a moment!) I mean busy with other aspects of Metal Month II. I'll be getting back to your recs at the weekend and will post the updated list. Feel free to send more, though as M-Day draws closer (eleven days and counting now!) and I try to sort everything out the chances of my listening to new ones drops a little. But I will try.

May I recommend Wintersun by Wintersun.

Every song seems to be longer than the last until the final track ends with a sort of progressive close. It is a complex and insanely well crafted album. All in all an epic symphonic black metal album and easily accessible for lovers of extreme metal.

This album is on Spotify if you have it and on Grooveshark but I can't post links yet because I don't have 15 posts.

Oh, I remember last time you were looking for death metal without vocals. The Chasm's Farseeing the Paranormal Abysm (and no, "Abysm" is correct), has vocals, but half the songs are instrumental, and the vocals are somewhat low in the mix when they're there anyway. That's the closest you're probably gonna get.

Just a quick update:

Mastodon --- Blood mountain
Cavalera Conspiracy -- Inflikted
Sigh --- Imaginary sonicscape

Znowhite --- Act of God
Draconian --- Arcane rain fell
Cryptopsy --- None so vile

Dissection --- Storm of the light's bane
Arcturus --- La masquerade infernale
Mondstille --- Seelenwund
Urfaust -- Geist ist teufel
Gallowbraid --- Ashen elaidon
Conan --- Monnos
Metallica --- Load and Reload (I'm cutting this out: there's no way this was a rec and I have enough to listen to without putting well-known Metallica albums into the mix)
Reinxeed --- 1912
Forefather --- Steadfast
Finntroll --- Nattfodd

Due to Batty forever scarring me by tricking me into listening to Cryptopsy, all of his other choices are going right to the back of the queue! And you're getting my analyst's bill too!

"Tricking"? When did I ever give the impression that I wanted to do anything other than torture you by recommending Cryptopsy? I was very open about trolling you. You have no one to blame but yourself.

So, I haven't heard you say whether or not you liked it.
