Default Favorite Modern Hard Rock Bands and why???

Who are your favorite hard rock bands out there kicking a$$ right now?

1. Alter Bridge - Tremonti just brings it every track and Myles Kennedy is a great vocalist. A lot of very good songs with great meaning as well. Every album has been great though Fortress is unfortunately my least favorite.

2. Seether - Disclaimer was one of my favorite albums for the longest time. To me they were like a modern, heavy version of Nirvana both lyrically and emotionally. They have since tapered off but they still really rock and I can't wait to see them again in May.

3. Disturbed - I don't care about the haters saying they make the same album over and over again. The Sickness and Believe were excellent albums and Asylum came very close for me. I love Draiman's voice and I quite liked his side project Device as well.

4. Halestorm - Lzzy Hale is incredibly hot and incredibly talented. Her shows just rock the house. She plays her hot little a$$ off every time and I've seen them at least 4 times as they are somewhat of a local band for me.

5. Five Finger Death Punch - I call this band one of my favorite "anger" bands because, when I'm really pissed or someone screws me over, I can instantly relate to a lot of their lyrics. They play hard and, though I need to be in the mood to want to listen to them, when I do I usually scream the lyrics out.

6. A Day to Remember - I just got into them maybe 2 years ago and now own all of their albums. I'm not into screamo OR pop/punk much usually but they fuse the two perfectly IMO. I saw them live twice and they put on a heck of a show both as a headliner and opening for Rise Against. Heavy and great lyrics and meaning. Great blend of scream and melody.

7. Avenged Sevenfold - I really like M Shadows' voice and I am obsessed with Gates' playing but I'm pissed The Rev died because they have gone a little downhill since. Their self-titled record is one of my favorites along with City of Evil.

8. Ill Nino - This isn't going to be a very popular choice I would assume but I am Puerto Rican and I can appreciate the blending of American and Spanish cultures within their musicianship and I love the Spanglish singing of Christian. The 2 different drumsets (one spanish one traditional) is also wonderful and the scream and melody is just right with them as well. They were also the nicest bunch of guys when I met them and they put their heart and soul into a crowd of barely 150. That is boss.

I was sold on Halestorm when I saw their video I Get Off. Don't care for the second album as much although I do listen to it from time to time. Now I like Disturbed and FFDP but I have to be in the mood for them and the same can be said of Mastodon.

Believe it or not I have Ill Nino - Epidemia in my library and again I have to be in the mood for it. Same can be said of Myrath which if you haven't heard them have a middle eastern influence which gives them a very unique sound.

When it comes to hard driving music right now I'm really fond of Chaos Divine who prove that the Aussies know how to rock.

And from Poland I listen to Unsun and Votum who prove that the folks in the Baltic region know how to rock as well. I find that people who do not natively speak English but can speak and sing in it have a very different feel, one that I can appreciate.

I could go on and on but I'll leave it at that. I will say that all of my most favorite bands come from the Netherlands.

I must say I really dig Chaos Divine. I got The Human Connection and didn't stop listening to it for a month. It's a bit disappointing their first album Avalon is hard to come by. They also did Toto's Africa justice as well with an outstanding cover. It's definitely a must listen if you haven't heard it yet.

I actually have both albums, got them from amazon. A lot of bands from across the pond are hard to come by here in the states but I managed to get them. Avalon I had to special order and wait a couple of months for.

Five Finger Death Punch is the only modern rock band that I can really get into.

Seether has always been one of my favorite bands since their debut in '99.

I'd bring Five Finger Death Punch at second as a favorite.

Scar The Martyr is a metal orientated band that formed in November of last year I am currently getting into.

I will mention Disturbed I've always liked them, and I've always related them along side Godsmack in comparison to styles. They've both been around as long as Seether has.

Halestorm is one of the best female metal vocalist since Pat Benatar in my opinion. She's a 'rocker' with strong vocals.

Attila is a deathcore band I like that was formed in 2005.

Envy on the Coast...Most people have never heard or heard of this band and it's a damn shame. I think they are the best band to come out in the past 10 years.

I'd post a link...but I'm new so I cant yet! Check out this song on YouTube

Envy On the Coast - The Gift of Paralysis

Most of their videos are acoustic, do they have anything heavier? Good vocalist, I bet he could tear it up covering Supertramp and Styx.

A lot of the rock and heavy metal from the 70's and 80's is just so overplayed for me personally.

Modern metal seems to be more experimental and still evolving as we speak. At the least, it keeps me searching YouTube for something new and inventive.

I remember seeing them a little while back on some late night show and really digging them. I've heard a song or two on the radio and not really cared all that much, but whatever that live song was had some seriously good energy to it. I don't know about metal but they're quality power pop at least.

And as hot as the outfits they put the singer in for publicity photos are she looks far too goofy to be taken seriously, but on TV she just wore a leather jacket and couldn't have looked more the rocker chick. Even hotter IMO.
