Nickelback vs Slipknot
 

A friend of mine asked "who's the worst, Nickelback or Slipknot? What's the most repetitive and unoriginal?"
We decided to ask you guys which band you think is the better, or least bad. It seems to me that Nickelback is to rock as Slipknot is to metal, and vice versa.

Both are awful. Have not listened enough to say anything else. And will not listen enough.

And for the record I'm voting Slipknot. They at least have the masks and a little more interesting instrumentation.

Nice thread even if these type of threads end up being a troll's delight. I'm sure we're going to get a fanboy of either of these two bands on here saying how they're the best thing since sliced bread.;)

Though never having heard an entire album by either band, I'll say Slipknot, too.

Again, I don't think the first Slipknot album is that bad. Their problem was that the '90's ended.

Nickelback OTOH is just dreadful throughout.

I listened to both bands when they were popular (and I was 8 or so) but have since outgrown them. With that being said, I still like a few tracks off of Iowa still so Slipknot gets my vote.

Slipknot's first was Mr. Bungle with extra metal

I used to actually like both, now they are below average to me but still listenable when I'm bored.
I know more nickelback songs than slipknot.. soo, nickelback for me

That's really the only one that sounds like that, the rest is groove/death metal.

I actually like the S/T and Iowa by Slipknot, so I'll go with them.

Nickelback for sure, i mean to be a fan of a band that sucks that much it takes a special kind of stubborn idiot, slipknot is more over hyped than actually bad, Nickelback is just awful.

Nickelback_rules was one of my favourite posters. I miss him, it's lonely here in the Nickelback fan club.

He is a friendless, sad, lonely fool with entirely too much free time who has to derive entertainment from provoking reactions on the internet, and likely has little to no human interaction without it. The second poster simply is someone with poor taste but may otherwise be a happy human being.

I genuinely enjoy the first 3 Slipknot albums (starting from MFKR), and I'd listen to those in their entirety. I haven't listened to anything beyond Iowa.

I voted for nickleback ,but than again..I never really listened to slipknot. I can't really judge.
I bet they're terrible aswell.

Iowa is a decent album so I'll go with Slipknot.

Slipknot is just noise and violence from what I heard ("Iowa") and Nickelback I have nothing particularly against, so I'll vote for Nickelback as the least terrible.

How can you put Slipknot and Nickelback in the same sentence? At least Slipknot is more than merely some cynical commercial endeavor. At least they're real metal heads. They don't have to sing about wanting to be a metal head. They exude metalheadism. Even if almost every song they ever made just sucks in ways that don't even make sense, they are still a real band.

Chad Kroeger implicitly acknowledges that he and his band are a phony rock act in their most popular and most played song. Even his hairdo is fake. I mean, it's probably real hair and stuff, but that ain't what the point is. The point is, it's fake. He only has it to make him seem more legit. I bet when he's not singing about whatever we remind him of, he forgets the veneer and wears a suit. A hundred dollar suit. A hundred dollars worth of suit. Suit.

I like how up until this sentence it actually sounds like he's legitimately sticking up for Slipknot. Like he likes them. And then out of nowhere comes the swift kick to the nuts.

The results are as expected... they are both just terrible and for the most part I hate them, but I don't always cringe when I hear a Slipknot song.

I always, always cringe when I hear Nickleback. It makes me sick.

Slipknot by a long mile. Even if they are nothing more than commercialized metal for angsty teens, at least they seem to put more effort into their music. They may try too hard to be heavy and brutal, but at least they care about their output.

I can't really say the same for Nickelback, though. Every record they put out sounds exactly the same as the previous, and it's nothing more than generic radio rock in the first place.

So yeah, Slipknot gets my vote.
