Default Classical music combined with metal

Genres like symphonic metal that use classic instruments and melodies are becoming popular- like Apocalyptica or Nightwish - how do you guys feel about these different genres combining?

Those two genres go together surprisingly well. Actually, classical music has played a rather important role in the development of metal, so it shouldn't be so surprising, but some people see the genres, because of the instrumentation and volume levels, as complete opposites.

Symphonic metal has been my favorite genre for many years now. I really love bands like After Forever, Within Temptation, Stream Of Passion, Epica and Delain.

I was just thinking of Yngwie Malmsteen and his classical influence, and realized he's never actually done anything with an orchestra, right ?
