Most emo purists prob don't consider them emo but whatevs. Part of them is I think

Brand New definitely has emo elements, and they're definitely where you should start as they're pretty accessible too.

yeah I was just spouting shit. I don't really know the origins of Emo but good to know and thanks for correcting me.

And there're supreme metal bands from some other places: Angra, from Brazil; lots of good ones from Germany, Finland, etc etc... Rush from Canada...
Anyway, "what's better, this or that?" "Who's the best...?" ... dismal threads

You should hear Diary by Sunny Day Real Estate. It's great, and one of the most influental emo albums released. You will have a good idea of what emo is after listening.

Personally I think the best symphonic metal bands come from across the pond aka Europe. The one thing that I love about music is how a region influences the style which is why we have so many different varieties and sounds to choose from.

I don't even know where 90% of the bands I listen to are from.

How's that even possible?

1st post; hopefully more to come.

From my experience ... old head here ... Americans always seem to be the originators but UK artists refine it and vastly improve it.

I dunno, I just hear of a band, look up their discography, and that's it. Sometimes I try to remember the name of the frontman.
Don't ask how I listen to most of my music....
I think I should spend some more money on music and less on video games. But Video games get on sale all the time(Steam, gog, humble bundle, green man gaming, etc), and music doesn't :c.
