Theatrical Rock/Metal
Hey Guys!
What you think about genres like theatrical rock or metal? It's just underground music or could be popular one day? U know, projects like "Charlemagne" by Christopher Lee. |
Alice Cooper pioneered in this genre decades ago.
|
In which albums? Can you give me some examples?
|
Kiss (rock)
Gwar (metal) Meatloaf (rock) Even Iron Maiden has a "Theatrical" element. As for Alice, Billion Dollar Babies would be a good place to start. |
I think he captured some of his best of theatrical stage show with reasonably sophisticated songs underneath the noise on Billion Dollar Babies.
|
Iron Maiden? I'm not saying you're wrong, but it's just too good to be true :P Following your train of thought, we can say that most of rock ballads have a "theatrical" elements.

Have you ever watched an Iron Maiden concert? Come to think of it, Pink Floyd can fall into the "Theatrical Rock" department too. |
Iron Maiden really delivers a powerful/intense vocal and stage performance, there should be a countless number of Death Metal/Metal etc. bands out there that carry the same theatrical signatures.
|
Yeah, you're right, but I rather think about "theatrical vocal". Something like this:
Igor Szpotakowski - Cardinal Richelieu - YouTube |
I like it, youve got something there.
