new*** here
Greetings, new*** commenting. First post on banter. Thought this was a good thread to start on considering there has been nothing but Metallica on a local radio station lately. It has certainly given me time to feel nostalgic and personally review said band. Kill 'Em All was what originally "put the hook through my cheek" so to speak. "Whiplash" in particular was and is now to an extent still a favorite. Didn't care too much for Metallica from '84 to '86. "...And Justice for All" was a decent album considering lyrical improvement. Let me just say here that all bands are constantly improving to some degree in my opinion. "Black Album" was the last album I ever really cared for. Everything afterwards besides a few singles was tasteless. All in all "Black Album" takes it home.

I have to go with Ride the Lightning for now, though my favourite of theirs changes between their first three albums every now and then. My next favourite of theirs is And Justice for All, then my interest in everything afterwards by Metallica lowers to the point of rarely listening to anything post-AJfA. I guess the next tier would be Load/ReLoad, then TBA/Self Titled, then Death Magnetic, then my least favourite two albums by them being St. Anger and Lulu.
I chose Ride the Lightning because it had the rawness of their first, but was just generally better than KEA, with most of the Metallica songs I can still enjoy almost as much as when I first heard them. |

"Imagine you were at my station And you brought your motor to me Your a burner yeah a real motor car Said you wanna get your order filled Made me shiver when I put it in Pumping just won't do ya know luckily for you Whoever thought you'd be better At turning a screw than me I do it for my life Made my drive shaft crank Made my pistons bulge Made my ball bearing melt from the heat Oh yeah yeah We were shifting hard when we took off Put tonight all four on the floor When we hit top end you know it feels to slow Said you wanna get your order filled Made me shiver when I put it in Pumping just won't do ya know luckily for you Whoever thought you'd be better At turning a screw than me I do it for my life Made my drive shaft crank Made my pistons bulge Made my ball bearing melt from the heat Oh yeah yeah Oh! I'm giving you my room service And ya know it's more than enough Oh one more time ya know I'm in love Whoever thought you'd be better At turning a screw than me I do it for my life Made my drive shaft crank Made my pistons bulge Made my ball bearing melt from the heat Oh yeah yeah! Imagine you were at my station And you brought your motor to me With all four on the floor I feel what's in store Whoever thought you'd be better At turning a screw than me I do it for my life Made my drive shaft crank Made my pistons bulge Made my ball bearing melt from the heat Oh yeah yeah! " Even the lyrics stink! |

****. That. The first Megadeth album was fantastic. Never again was Dave that pissed off. Whether or not later albums were more polished Killing Is My Business was pure raw rage and energy. And I will forever love that album for the main riff to the title track. Aw man, and "Last Rights/Loved to Deth" is such a monster. Thrash perfected. Dave might be an egomaniac who all but says that he invented thrash, but with a song like that he may have the slightest point. ****, they even made a Nancy Sinatra song bad-****ing-ass. Killing Is My Business might even be my fav Megadeth album. Either that or Rust In Peace. Edit: And what is this post doing in a Metallica thread?

To your edit: What is any other band name doing in any other thread not dedicated to said band? I think you might get more on this if you ask Dylstew, the poster in which I quoted... |

Of course it was poorly made, it was grassroots metal, but that doesn't make it a bad album.
