That wasn't there when I posted...

I'm a neurotic reviser. Wasn't trying to pull the rug under you or anything.

Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.
Al Pacino = God

Second to Diamond Head of course and then there is Witchfinder General.

High five for Witchfinder General, and Diamond Head as well of course.

Naaah. I prefer Motorhead, but I cannot think of a single reason why. I hate heavy metal, to be honest, there's just something about Motorhead...
Diamond head are from Stourbridge, which is Worcestershire, I'm afraid.

If you liked metal you`d love Diamond Head!

It was a good guess with Stourbridge though.

Not far off. I think it's part of Birmingham.
And anyway, they are probably less repetitive than Motorhead.

Probably along with Budgie (more hard rock than metal) Diamond Head are the most under-appreciated metal act to have come out of the UK and without doubt one of the very best. They had an amazing grasp of melody for a metal band and the musical ability to pull it all off.

Since I like melody and since UK metal has seemed so unappealing to me (Dragonforce, Black Sabbath - ugh), I may check them out.

Lightning to the Nations is the album to start with, the following two albums are more melodic, but there is still enough on that album melody wise to appeal. I`d also say it was one of the best guitar albums ever recorded as well, with riffs to die for.

Diamond Head actually sound nothing like Black Sabbath, despite the dark feel of their work and they almost single-handedly inspired Metallica and Megadeth. If you listen to the classic Metallica debut album Kill Em All, it could almost be a homage to Diamond Head.
