Dark Moor is a male fronted symphonic band which I've found to be pretty amazing. Their Tarot album had a couple great tracks on it, including:

I guess they would be considered more neo-classical, but still. Worth a listen.

Nightwish have had some good songs in the past, but they were never anything more than a novelty.
So is that what you think of symphonic metal in general?

It's not a genre I listen to much. At least the non-power metal bands. Nightwish is one of the only ones that I'm familiar enough with to have a strong opinion on one way or the other.

The last time I saw you post about them, I didn't agree too much with your opinion, but then once I thought about it and listened to them again, I found your opinion to be of closer accuracy than I gave you credit for. And the fact that I dove into Symphonic Metal more in depth at the same time.

Good female fronted bands include Nemesea, Edenbridge, Dark Moor, and so on.
Oh, it seems I will have a lot to check out. I haven't heard of most of bands you've listed.

Yeah, but sticking to these bands is slowly becoming boring, this is why I wanted to find something new.

Yep, you guessed well. Although I like old Nightwish, most of their songs sound like mediocre manistream rock played in the radio. My opinion about most of these so called female fronted metal bands are is the same. This is because of these vocalists who sound the same and try to be dark.

well switch sub genres then after you have check out all of our suggestions and you still don't find anything you like that's the last resort then.

Try out different sub genres.

The fact is I have been listening to symphonic metal for around 6 years and changing it disturbs me. But I hope I will find something new that pleases my ears.
