I think Spotify is pretty good. I do like buying albums, but Spotify is great for discovering new stuff, and not having to buy all Pink Floyd's albums in order to listen to their music would be great, too. Nor can I afford many albums either, since over half of my money comes from birthdays and christmas.

This pleases me. I have all of Pink Floyd's albums at home, but sometimes I want to hear it when I'm out and about or at work, and I don't have any loaded on my MP3 player. That's one thing I use Spotify for, in addition to listening to new discoveries I don't yet have.
Also at work we often make Friday playlists for the whole office to listen to, and we use Spotify so everyone can add to it. The fact that so many classic bands like Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, etc are missing kind of sucks.

THEY ARE ON SPOTIFY!
@pinkfloyd: "Welcome to the machine..." As promised, after 1 million streams of Wish You Were Here, Pink Floyd's catalogue is now available on @Spotify."

I think it's brilliant. I run an album club with my friends and we use Spotify a lot so to me, this basically means we can now do PF albums in our club.

It's pretty much what I've done here only it's more successful and what's nice about this is I know all the people in the group in RL. That means that every week, I get to know my friends a little better. When we do meet up in real life, we often chit chat about the albums and there's always the possibility of having a club meeting or party if we want.

Like Jackhammer, Floyd being on Spotify isnt going to make all that much difference to me personally. Arent The Beatles on it already? The fact I cant be sure I think shows that for what I personally use it for, its irrelevant to me. However, that being said, it can only be a good thing. For any Spotify user who hasnt heard Floyd, or countless other key bands they may just be too young for, they may as well be on there to be an option.
Plus, for playlists and things I'd rather know they were there than not. There are still free accounts though, arent they? They may be limited but they still exist. I wouldnt call that useless. Infact I'd call that a use. |
