Nonexistent genre, what to do?

I am not saying this is the case here, but I hear of a LOT of people saying they're doing something new or innovative and they almost never are.

If you're looking for band mates, don't market it beyond a basic description. Even then, typically when one band member is the primary idea and everyone else is a glorified session member, the band doesn't last very long. Usually what happens is that reliable people are difficult to find for such a thing or the ones that are worthwhile get bored. I have been in suh projects and believe me, playing the same two unfinished songs for two months, never playing a show and having better things to do with my time that I can be more emotionally invested in than some other person's vision that I do not share causes me to get bored and leave REALLY quick.

I have several musical projects... all of them are solo projects because most of them are extreme metal and I live in a very socially conservative "bubba redneck" area. It is not impossible to do on your own either. I get excellent quality in my recordings and I have a standard computer, a cheap vocal microphone, my guitars and virtual instruments (like drum machine). I record direct into the mic jack via an adapter with my guitar and use a virtual amp and I record using Reaper. My whole set up, not including the computer, was $200. I don't even have a mixing board. Tons of solo projects do this and many are very successful in comparison to their respective fields (Mirrorthrone, for example).

So basically you have the only viable options of: solo project, solo project with paid session musicians or to be open with the other members collaborating and the band being less or other than what your vision is.
