Bat Out of Hell one of the most overblown albums of all time and sure it is like one giant power ballad.

Question

Klaus Meine is one of the greatest (underrated) rock vocalist of all-time. Scorpions and Def Leppard are two of the best at power ballads.

I thought everybody already knew that ?

They do, but they're too stubborn to acknowledge the fact.

I think that there can be a lot of misconception when defining power ballads with rock ballads in my opinion, which are more love ballad orientated lyrically.

Especially when considering songs like Midnight Rider by The Allman Brothers or one of my favorite 80/early90s songs, Wasted Time by Skid Row to the final countdown.

I think it (Love Hurts) deserves to BE on the list, though. It's not the best one, and it becomes annoying in the long run, but it did become a hit. Several times.

Well it is from '75. So .. it could very well sound repetitious and annoying at times I am quite sure of. If not cheesy as well.

"Love Hurts" was first recorded by The Everly Brothers in 1960.

Yeah, heaven forbid a discussion transpires on a discussion board.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll be harassed endlessly about this, but I'm a pretty big fan of Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again". It's probably mostly out of nostalgia, but that song really does transport me somewhere else:

"Still Loving You" is still the best power ballad suggested so far.
