I think that the new single is a standard offering from Black Sabbath. No alarms went off in my head saying this is fantastic, but my finger did not hit the skip button either. I think for myself where the album fell short was the length of it. Eight songs, or even seven would have been enough to capture the quality of guitar playing and drumming along with Ozzy's vocals. It was like a car trip where the kids keep asking are we there yet?????
There is your typical ballad offering which was quite nice to hear and also a more up tempo more hard rock vocal style on some of the songs, but even as a life time fan of this band I found after the sixth, or seventh song which presented the same sound it got a little long in the tooth. There was not enough variance in that many songs to keep my attention. All and all I will burn a copy with select songs on it from the album for future listening.

It might be just a perfect excuse to get together again and go on tour. I think it's just all right; after all, this is the real Black Sabbath, and the fact that Ward will no longer play there makes me feel a bit sad. Black Sabbath will always be a supreme band; the mother of many other thousands of metal bands no matter what. There are lots of not well-known songs yet to be found out. The Writ is a flawless one and nobody talks about it, while Paranoid has got me somewhat jaded, as it were. There are lots of examples.
