Default October Tide

October Tide

Found this band through a recommendation on last.fm based on the fact that I listen to Katatonia and Agalloch. With more research, it turns out that October Tide is a side project including the vocalist and guitarist of Katatonia. This band is definitely something. I've got a few albums to listen to for catch up, but the first i've heard is A Thin Shell, and it instantly sounds promising. They label themselves as a death metal / doom metal band which I can hear.

This band is a good example of why I love side projects from artists that I already love. It opens up the opportunity of being able to listen to more music that is directly similar to music that I already like, giving me the possibility of expanding my collection. It's also nice to see great artists take into consideration that other people want to hear more music like the music they've created. If I am very fond of an artist, I always try my hardest to find side projects / solo projects that they've done just to get a little more of a taste of how the artists likes to work.
