Electronic music had been big in the UK & Europe for over 20 years at that point and the 90s was full of British rock bands crossing over with electronic artists, Hell ever Oasis got involved with it. America never really seemed to warm to electronica in the 70s & 80s other than underground stuff like Chicago House music & Acid House and stuff like that and there was very little happening there in the 90s either.

I think if it was a risk it would be how their American audience would adapt to it rather than their fanbase as a whole.

That is my standpoint as their audience, so I can't much refute that.

Give me the Prodigy anyday. I can think of fewer bands that have united Metal and Electronic fans to go on and explore those particular genres and enjoy both at least in a commercial sense.

I can kind of see the argument for Prodigy in a way, but in the states, they had but one hit, and that was in the nineties. They were innovative though, and I dug the hell out of that track.

And I wish they'd not broken up. Also wish System of a Down weren't predominately broken up, because they were onto something; they were hard rock/metal and played on pop stations. They are absolutely a talented bunch.

I agree, i actually never totally saw the hate for SOAD, at least by their hits. they were a little one trick, I suppose, and their later stuff kinda blew when they used the softer vocalist more. But their style was prominent and neaat. Their lyrics were a bit much though, like less worse Linkin Park.
