Ministry first got my attention in 1988 with The Land of Rape and Honey. That album was so much harder and more visceral than the previous albums The next album took that industrial-metal sound a step further Then, the long wait for the next album. The anticipation was fueled by this CD Single that utterly fucking dominated the summer of 1992 (at least with the circle of people I knew at that time) Then, it finally came out and did not disappoint. For about a month I thought Psalm 69 was untitled, in at least the original packaging there was no apparant title on the CD jacket or the disc itself I've posted threads about Ministry to other boards, and invariably someone would opine that Ministry was not metal. After linking to sundry definitions of the Industrial Metal genre, I would direct their attention to the 3:28 timepoint of this video ....that guitar riff is lifted directly from Slayer. After that came Filth Pig....yeah, what Janszoon said |
