Limp Bizkit - Nookie - deep subtle message revealed
So after a friend of mine who listens to Tool gave me an interesting interpretation of their "Stinkfist" I thought that maybe I need to think more abstract too and find subtle messages behind lyrics which seem so determined and obvious at the first sight.
When I really thought about Nookie and listened to it with whole my heart and my mind open I was left amazed. I actually started crying from how beautiful their actual message is, it touched me that deep. And the nonchalant, goofy way the song is written just contributes to the message it sends. I also discovered that Rollin is an amazing song about struggling with life and never giving up, but more about that later. INTERPRETATION "Check, one, two" - It means he is a very wary and careful person that doesn't just run into things but checks first. "Came into this world as a reject look into these eyes then you'll see the size of the flames" - He is a social reject with a fire burning deep inside of him that is ready to be unleashed. Look into his eyes, REALLY LOOK INTO THEM and you can see the size of the flames. "Dwellin on the past Its burning up my brain, everyone that burns has to learn from the pain" - People must learn to control their fiery temper and learn from the mistakes in the past. "Hey I think about the day My girlie ran away with my pay When fellas come to play" - Such a beautiful metaphor... I... I can't find words to describe it but I'll try. His girl is actually the music industry and the fellas are other bands. So what he is trying to say is that music industry just likes what is hot ATM and money which is supposed to be your pay can be easily given to some other band. "Now she stuck with my homies that she ****ed And I'm just a sucker with a lump in my throat" - He is saying that music industry is now stuck and stopped progressing after she drained his "homies", aka other bands. And he is just a sucker(loser) sad because of it(lump in the throat). "Hey, like a chump Should I be feelin' bad? No Should I be feelin good? No" He is comparing himself to a champ because he was so easily deceived. But in the end he starts feeling pretty apathetic towards rejection by the music industry. "Its kinda sad I'm the laughin' stock of the neighborhood You would think that I'd be movin' on But I'm a sucker like I said ****ed up in the head, not!!" - He is sad that everybody laughs at him and that everybody thinks he should move on and try another career cause he is a failed musician. But he has had enough of it, he doesn't give up and keeps being a musician but not a sucker anymore and not ****ed up anymore! "Maybe she just made a mistake I should give her a break My heart will ache either way Hey, what the hell Watcha want me to say I wont lie that I cant deny" He is forgiving the music industry for playing with him cause it is all a thing of the past. "I did it all for the nookie C'mon The nookie C'mon So you can take that cookie And stick it up your, yeah!! Stick it up your, yeah!! Stick it up your, yeah!!" - This is where the emotions started getting really intense and I started crying. So deep and meaningful. Nookie is a slang term for sex, and sex is fun. Cookie is often given to dogs as a reward after they do what their owners tell them to do. What he is saying is that he started making music for fun and for the sake of music instead of for the cookie because its humiliating to work for such little rewards and being owned like a dog. That's all for now, TO BE CONTINUED Last edited by MyName; 01-24-2013 at 01:27 PM. |

I'm not sure if this is supposed to be obviously sarcastic, or if you're being sarcastic but trying to trick us into thinking that you're not.

CONTINUED NOOKIE INTERPRETATION "Why did it take so long? Why did I wait so long, huh To figure it out? but I did it" - He regrets it took him so long to figure it all out and he is constantly pestered by countless questions but ultimately he is glad he succeeded. "And I'm the only one underneath the sun who didn't get it I cant believe that I can be deceived By my so called girl" - He feels lonely and disappointed to the point he thinks he is the only one in the world who doesn't know how things work and he still has trouble believing music industry betrayed him and thrown him away. "but in reality Had hidden agenda She put my tender heart in a blender And still I surrendered Hey, like a chump" - Hidden agenda means that music industry secretly planned to throw him away anyway, without any sort of compassion or sympathy even though his gentle heart got hurt . "I'm only human Its so easy for your friends to give you their advice They tell you to let it go But its easier said then done" - Now music industry wants him again and doesn't want to let go of him "I appreciate it I do, but just leave me alone Leave me alone Just leave me alone!! Just leave me alone!" - He is being ironic when he says how he appreciates that music industry wants to take him back, but he doesn't even consider and just wants to be left alone to do his own music the way he wants to and stay true. "Ain't nothin' gonna change you can go away Im just gonna stay here and always be the same" - I'm not sure is he saying nothing gonna change or something gonna change since there are 2 negations, but I'm guessing something gonna change. He is saying music industry can go away and he doesn't need it because he is just gonna stay true to himself and won't sellout again. Beautiful. Rollin' is even deeper and I was literally in a trance while listening to it, planning to interpret it too. |

To the OP:
You obviously have way too much time on your hands to be listening to such crappy music. It's time you explore music that actually has meaning to it other than complaining that their girlfriend was ****ing other guys. Nookie is Fred's moral victory, and I wouldn't read too much into any of his lyricism. |

Boy you are REALLY committing to the joke aren't ya? Fred durst is not a genius lyricist he's just a tool, i mean he just reeked of "plz make me famous" desperate for the spotlight.. which is why they covered George Michael in the first place in fact, i could sum you up what woulda been Limp biskit at it's finest in "Back to school" by the Deftones.. That ONE song by the Deftones is what Limp biskit whole career shoulda been.. the worst part is when '2 dolla bill' was released i was a fan of limp biskit, during that time That type of Hardcore music was very popular, i remember Korn at one point was considered the most popular band ever.. Limp biskit just rode that Hardcore wave and when it was over so were they.. |
