Let me ask you a question.

If One Direction are aimed at teenage girls with no taste in music what do you think that they aim at teenage boys with no taste in music?

Think carefully....

Thrash/Heavy/Death/Black metal. Or classic rock. Or swag rap. All equally ****ty IMO.

I think you're missing the most obvious one.

I'll admit to enjoying some Slipknot tracks.

I'll also admit to liking Big Macs on occasion.

The problem isn't with the music, it's with the attitude and apparent insecurity of the average listeners who seem hung up on acquiring some level of external validation or acknowledgement of their tastes as if music listening is an objective zero sum equation with an absolute right and wrong choice. For the kids who think they're being persecuted or bullied for liking this band, consider revising how you present your opinion so that it actually reflects your personal justifications to create your opinion rather than moronic blanket statements like - they are the only metal band that have a meaning. You'd get a lot more respect if you stopped worrying about being right and just worried about being clear.

i agree with dave.....it has nothing to do with whether you like them or not.....it has to do with simple ignorance and or obvious shit starting....i feel the case here is a bit of both

this is just like the obligatory ICP fanboy that shows up once every couple months....actually it would not surprise me in the least if these guys turned out to be ICP fans at all

thought i'd also throw in a little history regarding Slipknot....the real Slipknot form Connecticut who were a hardcore thrash crossover band from the mid 80s....they were actually really good and for fans of early COC and DRI and even some Infest (Jackhammer you would love this album)....unfortunately they only released one EP on the amazing revelation records.....but that 12 minute five song EP outshine...for me at least....anything the second Slipknot did

Spoiler for Slipknot EP from 1988:

note

if you actually listen to this please note that the first song is called "Let It Show" not "Let It Snow"

I'm not a metalhead and I've never considered myself as one, but I still like most metal genres apart from a few exceptions.

The thing with Slipknot is that their fanbase tends to be younger, have raging hormones and have less experience with metal, at least from my experience anyway. Not that that's particularly a bad thing by the way as they are sort of like a gateway band to better metal bands. During my time in school I've seen plenty of friends get into bands like Slipknot, Korn etc. and then eventually move onto somewhat better stuff like Slayer, Sepultura and Machine Head, and then onto better stuff again.

You've got to be more open-minded about these things and stop judging others by what they listen to. You might even find yourself liking music that you've previously turned your nose up at because of the type of people that listen to it. By all means there's some great metal bands out there that are well worth your time, some that have even had an influence on Slipknot, don't let the impression of others stop you.
I sincerely apologize for overlooking your post, its one of quality, normal posts here, without too much hate or bull****.

I've met too many narrow-minded *******s from fanbases of mentioned genres.

I don't like emo culture, but I'm never going to be rude to them or hate them, you know why? Because they keep their music to themselves and don't go around judging and annoying others thinking they have the right to tell others what is good music and what isn't. Too many fans of certain metal genres(classic rock too) do that, which is VERY annoying.

Its odd that you say I'll move on to those bands cause one other guy I met said the same thing. I'm still young(17y) and I've had a talk with one of rare nice metalheads and he too said that I'll eventually move on to other, more extreme metal genres and that Nu is just an introduction to metal. I don't think that's gonna happen though, only Nu Metal bands that I got bored of are Linkin Park, and they are the first Nu Metal band I heard.

Truly. If this were American Pie, he's the dude who just prematurely ejaculated. At least he's not fucking the pie though.

Hm. Maybe Eminem? But he isn't bad, even though he is mainstream.
