Well, basically, Slipknot and Limp Bizkit (and other nu metal bands) create songs that appeal to the emotions of teenagers. Just like Nickelback, Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Lil Wayne, etc.

It's basically pop music for the kids who want to pretend like they're hardcore.
