These guys are pretty old school, a German industrial band from the 90's. Throw a bit of Techno in there as well. I couldn't find a thread about them! Your thoughts?

I used listen to them a lot back in the day. Good stuff. They're really good live as well.

Vanilla,
I thought you might like this song, it's writen by Lee Hazlewood and was a #1 hit in the 60's for Nacy Sinatra. Geri Halliwell, Jewel, and Jessica Simpson also did a version plus another two dozen other bands and artist. KMFDM probably did one of the best version of the song - hands down. Their name, KMFDM, disacronymized into German is Kein Mehrheit Für Die Mitleid which could possibly mean No Pity for the Majority. |
Oh wow that's awesome! I love the snarly undertone. I'm obsessed with their song Anarchy and Free Your Hate.
|
I likes me a little KMFDM (I hear that there was a rumor back in the day that their name stood for Kill Mother Fucking Depeche Mode). This song had my soul for a minute.
|
Have you never heard this Vanilla?

If you like KMFDM may I suggest Hanzel Und Gretyel:

wow....i have to admit i have always assumed there was a KMFDM thread here
like Janszoon said...they were one of my favorite bands in the 90s....i owned several shirts and posters with the amazing BRUTE artwork....and really enjoyed them up till En Esch left the group in 98 or 99.....them they changed their name for one album to MDFMK....that album was alright but in my opinion lost something....the album Money still gets regular play from me :) specifically the title track and my personal favorite by them More And Faster i've always loved their anarchist-capitalist view towards the world and music industry "i sell drugs to the kids, cause thats what pays" classic :) think i may just go listen to this album now edit crap i meant to mention them also Lee :) also look into Sascha's side project Excessive Force very groovy nihilistic dance music :) |
I always preferred MDFMK.

Once upon a time I was quite fond of Nihil & the similar guitar driven tracks; however, now I find the sound of these albums to be.... rather annoying - too repetitive & overproduced. Their work which trends towards purer Industrial (What Do You Know Deutschland?) strikes me.... as boring. Excessive Force is ok for what it is, Slick Idiot is probably my favorite spin off group from them though. |

this is pretty much my view of them also.....although like i said some of the key tracks from Money still sound pretty good.....but for the most part i feel there were much better bands coming out on Wax Trax at the time in short KMFDM SUCKS! "and a message from Satan if you turn it around" still some clever lyrics there :) hey Vanilla have you looked into any of the other Wax Trax bands? |
Rammstein have made some bad tracks in their time but c'mon this is class and so Teutonic it just has to be liked (and yes I know what the song is about):
|
not really that big a fan but i do like the odd song here and there
favourite one's about "the illegitimate son of God" |
^^^ "Stray Bullet" & "Juke-Joint Jezebel" do continue to entertain. Too bad they've such misplaced emphasis on their hard-rock sound....
|
I love me some KMFDM. 'Nihil' was my favorite album (shoot me now), and I loved the Dependence 2012 compilation which included "Amnesia (Käpt'n K. Mix Edit)". Some prefer the original version, but I loved the remix just as well. Whenever you stray into harsh EBM or aggrotech, you find that the remix is better a lot of the time (VNV Nation, Amnestia, Grendel, etc). But like I said before, Nihil was my favorite album and "Terror" was my favorite track, although KMFDM's new sh!t is looking promising. Just a newb's two cents. :)
