Keep in mind I was really young at the time, so I'd pretty much only been exposed to christmas songs and Spice Girls.

I don't remember anything else they did but I used to totally dig Wisconsin Death Trip back in high school. I might have to revisit that album just to see if I still care.

That was a good one, a lot of people's favorite as most debuts seem to be. But I was a big fan of the Machine album. First metal song I ever heard, age 10 or 11... this is what started it all.

Mine would have to be Wintersun. I dabbled previously with bands like Opeth and and Metallica but when my friend encouraged me to listen to Wintersun's debut that's when I began delving deeper into metal.

Linkin Park if I trace it all the way back.. I know they are more rock than metal.

Nightwish, which is by definition metal is the first real metal band I got into.

Children of Bodom and Dimmu Borgir are the first extreme metal bands I got into.

Not sure if I said it, but I was listening to nu metal when it was popular in the late 90s. I never really identified it as metal, though.

I first really started listening to metal after my cousin started playing a bunch of Buckethead, Primus, Iron Maiden, Faith No More, and Metallica. Good stuff. Up to that point I'd only really listened to popular music, rap, and my parents' classic rock/pop. Eventually I got my hands on the internet, and I've been exploring music ever since.

I developed a crush on Blue Oyster Cult when I was in my late teens and in the early stages of recovering from a psychosis. Something about BOC´s weird music appealed to the psycho in me!

Tool opened my eyes to the possibilities of what Metal could be. Then it all started flooding in: Pantera, Sabbath, Slayer, Meshuggah….

If I counted things that aren't technically metal by definition, I was a big fan of Crazy Town and Eminem in elementary school because they were aggressive, violent rappers with hard beats.
