Best Led Zeppelin Album

I was curious as to what you guys think is the best Led Zeppelin album. I myself prefer their first album; Led Zeppelin. I enjoy listening to any of their songs though.

Rjinn 09-21-2012 12:26 AM

Led Zepplin IV. Has all the great classics like Black Dog, Misty Mountain Top, Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll, Four Sticks and When The Levee Breaks (which is my favourite of theirs).

SGR 09-22-2012 06:11 AM

Presence. Most interesting thing they did. Plus, only Zeppelin album I don't get sick of hearing. Did I mention Achilles Last Stand. Yeah, that.

mr dave 09-22-2012 06:41 AM

I'm gonna go with Houses of the Holy. Dancing Days, The Ocean, The Crunge, Over the Hills and Far Away, No Quarter, hell I even like D'yer Mak'er. There is no weak point on this album even if the title track didn't appear until the next album hahaha

Yea I'd have to go with that album as a second choice. Great tracks, No Quarter especially.

Rock N' Roll Clown 09-22-2012 02:38 PM

Led Zeppelin II - an album that every person on this planet should listen to.

ferdie_poly 09-23-2012 04:47 AM

Led Zeppelin IV all the way!

almauro 09-24-2012 04:22 AM

Led Zep ll because it's a boatload of energy and is they're hardest rocking album. They started to mature and get more diverse on lll, which leads to my second choice, lV which is the best combination of the old and new.

Psy-Fi 09-24-2012 05:43 AM

Tough to choose a favorite from the first 7 on the list. I've probably spent more time listening to Led Zeppelin II, Houses of the Holy, Physical Graffiti and Presence than the others, though.
I'm going to guess that of those 4 albums, Led Zeppelin II is the one I've played most often.
So Led Zeppelin II gets my vote.

AndrahilAdrian 09-28-2012 05:18 PM

4, obviously.

atomheart 09-29-2012 03:47 AM

I am a HUGE Zep fan, and I could not choose one single favourite, most of their albums can get put in trance! :afro:

leew123 10-01-2012 06:58 AM

presence is definitely their best

Bishie 10-03-2012 02:14 AM

Houses of the Holy is just pure gold in my opinion. I haven't come across another album like it. Plus it also contains my favourite Led Zeppelin track "No Quarter", which gives it an extra boost.

I've owned that album on CD for a couple years now and I never knew that the title song wasn't on there. I was going to say that I can't make up my mind between IV and Houses of the Holy, but jeez, since I didn't know that how can I now?

Thing is, though, that The Ocean is my favorite Led Zeppelin song, so I don't know which to pick. Might have to relisten to them again, eh?

AbbeyTheWary 10-05-2012 05:57 PM

I have to say Led Zeppelin III. Something about that album I suppose, from the opening track to the last. Though II does come in as a very close second. I love me Heart Breaker and Thank you :3

Screen13 10-09-2012 06:08 PM

Physical Graffiti was my pick. Very few Double Albums can catch my attention for their entirety, and it's a great collection of then-recent works with some tracks from previous sessions ("Bron-Yy-Aur" "Boogie With Stu" "Houses of the Holy"). Plus it has my two ultimate favorite Zeppelin classics - "Kashmir" and "Trampled Under Foot." An epic.

FX4Rick 10-14-2012 11:48 AM

It depends on what you mean by "best album". Which album has the best single songs? Or which album is the best to listen to top-to-bottom? Top-to-bottom would be Houses of the Holy

Houses of the Holy seems to come up a lot on this thread as their best album.

If I could only listen to one Zeppelin album ever again, that is what I would go with.

Mightin'it mean that that one is their best, then?

No I don't think it's one of their best, hence my comment.

kidney_thief 10-15-2012 02:07 PM

My pick was Houses Of The Holy--even though I love all of their albums up to and
including Presence--the later ones less so. I enjoyed the diversity of their music
as they matured, especially as evidenced on HOTH.

It wasn't one of the choices, but the "The Song Remains The Same" live soundtrack
is also high on my list!

This is why I mentioned HOTH as it's it joint lead position.

That was kind of one of them -wink wink- type things that really wasn't saying anything that serious, sarcasm-like. Think I shoulda put in a little smily, I think.

crazyaga 10-19-2012 01:22 AM

Houses Of The Holy

Fabio 10-19-2012 07:21 AM

The 4 cd box

with remasters most important tracks from all their discography .....:finger::usehead::bowdown:;)

DirtyPop 10-24-2012 06:52 PM

This is such a hard question.....they all have their moments for sure. Looking forward to checking out their new DVD next month!

Howard the Duck 10-28-2012 11:41 PM

Houses of the Holy easily

short, sharp, sweet

and their most eclectic

Cuthbert 11-06-2012 08:43 AM

Picked 4, but any of their first six could claim to be their best.

4 is the most enjoyable to listen to though. 1 got me into the Zep and 2 is basically another version of 1 but not as rough around the edges. Not heard much of 3, Houses of the Holy sounded great the couple of times I heard it though. Physical Graffiti is a lot to absorb.

locoman23 11-07-2012 11:52 AM

I'd probably go with III. I just like how it works together.

Chives 11-07-2012 05:22 PM

I used to think Zeppelin III was my favorite, but it's just not consistently interesting enough. It loses my attention at too many points. House of the Holy is always a great listen, though, so I think I'll go with that now.

Rapture Rider 11-19-2012 04:08 AM

Led Zeppelin IV

Puffnstuff 11-21-2012 08:40 AM

Physical Graffiti is my favorite.

doronla 12-26-2012 11:20 PM

Physical Graphity!!!

Radlabeled 12-28-2012 11:54 AM

Led Zeppelin IV. It's their most famous album for a reason, a good one! You've got their best songs there: Black Dog, Stairway to Heaven. Amazing album.

Did that come after Houses of the Wholey?

Insane Guest 12-28-2012 08:59 PM

Haha yeah it's the one with Cashmeer.

But I voted Graffiti too, Ten Years Gone, Trampled Under Foot, Bron-Yr-Aur, In My Time of Dying, they might not be the classics but I think it's their peak album

Inkdaub 01-07-2013 05:15 AM

Led Zeppelin is my favorite band and IV is my favorite record.

IV is about as close to a perfect rock record as I have ever heard.

thereposers 01-16-2013 08:42 PM

Houses of the Holy

Liked the Acoustic work...Jimmy Page was a session guy that played it all even b4 the Zep

Screen13 09-23-2013 05:28 PM

Page was also a Yardbird...some great Acoustical work slightly before Zeppelin.
