Scratch off Boston: I'm sure he'd remember that song starts from a fade and builds to a big drum and guitar climax. Plus, the "I close my eyes" is secondary in terms of, er, scream, to "Drift AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!"

Edit: anyway, Boston "More than a feeling" is from 1976...

And it doesn't have a female singer.

I totally missed the female singer as well (although in my defense, the guy from Boston uses his soprano range on it). That has totally thrown me, so just researching possibilities.

OK, female singers to famous hard rock bands in the 80's / 90s

- Jefferson Starship
- Heart
- Pat Benatar
- The Pretenders
- Patty Smyth
- Berlin
- Warlock
- Lita Ford
- Joan Jett
- Snake River Conspiracy

Slightly outside the genre
- Fleetwood Mac / Stevie Nicks
- Blondie
- Kate Bush
- Nightwish (but its only late 90's)
- Cranberries
- Garbage
- 4 Non Blonds

There are a whole bunch of Riot Grrl / Punk / Alt bands that I can think of, but guessing its not these... I've tried searching for lyrics but found nothing...

I think Nightwish is probably the closest to what i am looking for, but somewhere sang on the chorus she says 'I CLOSE MY EYES!'
