Default Which metal bands sound like Cradle of Filth did in the 90s and early 2000s?

A while ago I started listening to Cradle of Filth, especially their pre-Nymphetamine albums. My favorites were Cruelty and the Beast (1998), Midian (2000) and Damnation and a Day (2003). I started listening to other black metal bands and none really came close to the epicness of those three albums. Does anybody know of any good metal bands that sound like CoF did in those years?

Lets be honest about it, I think this band are terrible and they show just how bad modern British metal has got. I once read that they were the biggest selling British metal band since Iron Maiden. Its sad to see them mentioned in the same breath as Iron Maiden.

But then again don't let my slamming of the band stop you writing about them on here.

I agree, their newest stuff is pretty lamentable, but you can't deny Cruelty and the Beast was a badass album.

I agree they are the most listenable of their discography.
