Well I think both of those bands are kind of s*** but it doesn't really matter. There are still people who actually like those bands and I respect their decision to listen to crap music. Nah im just joking but I still think those arent the best bands in the wolrd.

I saw Nickelback (I took my sister for her b-day) and it was something she really really wanted..so I went, got ripped, sat back and watched her have a really good time...the music wasnt as bad as some and I did find myself singing along to "you remind me of what I" and I dont own anything by either band..though I did strip to the one Puddle of Mudd song "control"..they both suck..but Puddle of Mudd did feature some drummage by Josh Freese...

I'm really glad you brought this thread out from the crypt, because as I was advocating; look which band is still kicking. To quote Rolling Stone:
"[Nickle Back] was one of the only non-emo rock bands that sold anything in 06" And puddle of mud is a painful memory. I'm sure you'll complain that NB is a persistant painful memory but since I beat you to your own crappy one-liner you're going to need to come up with something else. I don't think anyone is saying (and im certainly not) that their the next beatles, but honestly I'd rather listen to "Rock Star" than most of the other crap that makes pop radio, but I concede that "I love you" or whatever its called is aimed at making cash and women.

Nickelback's demographics are what makes them money...
Not their talent.

haha.
What are people's issues with Nickleback? Nickleback are, COMMERCIALLY speaking, a good band! They write catchy melodies and hooks that are radio-friendly. They churn out hit after hit. Now, don't get me wrong - sure, their music may be derivative, unoriginal, redundant, clichéd, even ridiculous, but your casual music listener likes it! They write for the mainstream masses, and among those bands who are attempting to do this and have this in mind when writing, Nickleback are pretty much the best of the lot! Commercial rock ain't art, folks. The purpose is to design a product and make as much money out of it as possible. It's a craft. And these Canadians are skilled craftsmen...if (obviously) not particularly musically talented or virtuosic. On the side...it pisses me off when I see critics review Nickleback as if they're supposed to be anything besides derivative, and give their albums 2 stars for that reason. And then, they give Shakira's latest works 90/100. Shakira's music is among the most derivative, clichéd garbage I've ever heard. What happened to consistency, I wonder... |

Nickelback would be better if they hadn't been releasing the same song over and over again for about five years now.
