Default Red Fang

Anyone here like Red Fang? I searched and I couldn't find any threads on them here, I apologize in advance if I missed one. They're a really good stoner rock/metal band from Portland, OR. So far they've released two albums (a S/T debut in 2008 and Murder the Mountains in 2011), both of which I really liked. Two of their music videos are really hilarious/great and have been making their way around the internet lately, if you have any interest in bands like Mastodon and Queens of the Stone Age you should really give them a shot.

That second one is freaking amazing. I was laughing the whole time.

I found out about these guys last year, but totally forgot about them until just now. Thanks for the reminder!

I don't like their music, but, yes, their videos are awesome.

I only like a few of their songs. One being "Wires" and the other being "Prehistoric Dog".

Saw them live last summer, and I must say...they are LOUD. Pretty solid stoner stuff.

You'd think this would be right up my alley, but I just can't force myself to like these guys. It's what might be a perfect marriage of some of my favorite bands-- the rawness of early QOTSA, the catchiness of Priestess and Torche, and the tinge of psychedelia undoubtedly owed to Baroness and Kylesa... but it feels like it was manufactured exactly to meet those facets of an emergent hipster metal scene. Meta, right? You can't outhipster me, Relapse!

I mean it's fun, but completely forgettable.

With the exception of QOTSA I haven't heard of any of the bands you mentioned, although I did notice that Baroness is on the same label. I'm haven't really listened to all that much metal, so maybe that has something to do with it, but Red Fang just clicks with me for some reason.

This thread deserves a bump because Whales and Leeches is probably one of the best albums to come out this year.

Also one of the best shows I've seen this year.
