Thought I'd bump this thread up since the album's due out in a few weeks.
I'm enjoying the two new tracks (Young Cardinals and No Rest). George's new vocals were a bit of a shock at first but I think they're pretty cool now. Plus, Wade sounds great as always. |

I have to admit, I don't like "No Rest" all that much. It has a bland taste to it, much like "You Burn First". "Young Cardinals" on the other hand, I kinda dig. I'm a big fan of Crisis and this song kinda has a similar feel to it.
It'll be interesting to see where they go with this album. Anyone got a leak?

"No Rest" leaves me wanting more. It's a good sound and certainly catchy, but I think it should be a little more consistant. It sounds like AOF is going for a heavy punk sound on Old Crows/Young Cardinals and I think they should make their songs a little steadier and have less, uh... gaps if you know what i'm saying. I know this kind of contradicts what the band was originally about, but they're a changing band.
They're starting to sound like what I originally imagined they'd sound like when I read a brief review of "Crisis" in some magazine. I think it's a good change, we already have two albums worth of raw material anyways, good for them for changing it up.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like a change, hopefully for the better. As I said before, I'm encouraged by the two new songs. I get what you're saying about "No Rest" leaving you wanting more, Alfred, but I still think it's a pretty solid song.
There's no leak yet, just the two songs... But Metal Hammer has an extremely positive review of the album already. I can't wait to hear "Midnight Regulation" and "Emerald Street". |

I think the new album is just as good as anything they've done, with the exception of their self titled. The new sounds really works for them. After about 5 listens of the new album it's become one of my favorites at the moment. Young Cardinals is a great track.

Bringing this back because they have a new song out and I think it warrants discussion.
I love it myself, kind of a nod to their older stuff, while still embracing their progression.

Band broke up. This is the first breakup in a while that I've really cared about. I'm really sad to see them go, and hope to catch them on this farewell tour that George mentioned.

Yeaa, thats real upsetting, but we had to see it coming. I dont think George has enough left in the tank for another project either.
