No mention of Ulver? Their early stuff works better as full albums rather than singles so I'll just recommend you check out Bergtatt: Et eeventyr i 5 capitler (1993)
I would also highly recommend Blut Aus Nord's 2003 album This Work Which Transforms God, it's one of the more unsettling pieces of music I've heard, with a heavy emphasis on structure and layered sounds. |

I'm just listening to Deafheaven for the first time and I don't think it's very good. I like the dreamier moments but I don't think they really know how to metal out. They should try their hand at being anothe Explosions in the Sky rip off
By the way, I think Explosions in the Sky influenced more music in the last two years than any other band. Their sound is all over the place. |

Try Sunbather, and if you don't enjoy the opening track Dream House, well then I guess the band really isn't something you'll enjoy.
