Hendrix´s technique was flawed, BH´s is immaculate and you almost never see him make any mistakes. I would say BH is one of the most prolific guitar player ever having released 30+ albums over the last 20 years, on those albums he does a lot more than just shredding. His latest album is acoustic driven for example and its a masterpiece.
So, are you saying that Buckethead is as good guitarist as Jimi?! You just can't compare those two. Buckethead can be compared to Yngwie Malmsteen, but Jimi is just not their category. I don't say that I don't like Buckethead, I've listened to him and he's good (he has some good blues stuff, and some unusual and innovative things), but as for greatest guitarists ever, I wouldn't put him even in the top 100, although he is one of the greatest guitarists of our time, indeed (however Steve Vai is way better in my opinion). In fact, the best guitarist in the moment is Jeff Beck, but he is not comparable to Buckethead and the others, either and he is too old to be from our time.

BTW sorry for the postponed reply ive been busy and sort of forgot about this thread...

You're wrong by saying that Hendrix's playing was "flawed". All guitar players shouldn't not be judged by one rule book, the same goes for all music. It's an art form, not a spitting contest. people don't get into to music just to try and spit farther than someone else; maybe some do, but to me that seems like a rather stupid reason to get into music.

Buckethead is a very unique guitarist. I have heard the song Jordan from Guitar Hero II, and I have to say that there is some serious guitar playing involved there. Not many guitarists can do what Buckethead can do.

Can't tell if you sniped all my words for your second paragraph or if some are your original words, but it's so my style to say "Too Many Humans is my favorite BH tune"
Didn't read anyone's posts past the guy I replied too, so I don't even know what you've been saying in this thread, just my pov

Favourite video I've found of BH playing. Good example of alot of his skills.
Some great killswitch, tapping, shredding and slow play work. A nice litle jimi hendrix bit in their too

Was gonna post a link and then I found about the lame 15 post rule

type: about eight minutes of buckethead shredding into utube

Unless you were 'quoting' me by copy/pasting my words instead of using the quote feature, you appear to be using my words. I can now see that it appears you may very well have been quoting me, albeit incorrectly.

This is the tune that floored me, and made me seek out more from Bri guy.

I saw this and I felt almost inclined to post, because Buckethead is the main reason why I learned guitar.
Sure, he does seem void of emotions in a lot of his playing, but I feel like the emotions are placed in there if you have the eye for them. His playing is quite technical, but the musical theory required for what he’s done is immense. I personally love his acoustic stuff (Electric Tears / Acoustic Shards / etc...) more then mostly anything, and it always relaxes my mood. If I want to get pumped for an event I listen to songs like Jordan and Soothsayer, and that gets my adrenaline going. If a guitarist can have such effect on someone’s emotion, then there must be emotion in the playing, it may just reach out to certain people.
That’s my opinion!

Buckethead is as brilliant a musician as there is out there, and hes done some fantastic albums, but he's done some total garbage.

He's a versatile guitarist, and plays anything from jazz/fusion/funk to heavy metal to more stripped down rock stuff.

He's one of my favorite musicians of all time, for sure, but best guitarist? Hard to say that with how many greats there are, who he learned from just by hearing them.

Hard to say he's better than Hendrix even if he is more technically skilled.
