A lot that I would've mentioned have been mentioned in here. Especially BTBAM. The mixture of prog and metalcore is impressive.

i had a paragraph long post but i'll limit it to this...

What bands do you thing were most important in creating the "metalcore" scene we have today?
i think DRI, Suicidal Tendencies, Sepultura

i mean before converge and all that stuff, before it could be called metalcore

Oh I see your argument for Suicidal and DRI in that they are crossover thrash bands but I don't see where you're coming from with Sepultura.

sepultura has alot of the rhythm and grittiness of punk, as opposed to the machine gun firings and tight distortion of most metal bands. its a certain kind of imperfection that i like alot. i should say im more of a punk than i am a metalhead, but 3-chord structures get boring after a while

I'm not sure myself, but I've heard Jamey Jasta (of Hatebreed) comment on how much influence Chaos A.D. had on modern hardocre. Maybe that's bull****, maybe not, I don't really know enough about hardcore to have any idea.
