Screamo is stuff like Orchid, pg.99, Saetia, Circle Takes the Square, Reversal of Man, etc

Yup, Refused were not screamo, they were hardcore punk/post-hardcore. Screamo has nothing to do with deathcore, metalcore etc. Putting City of Caterpillar in the same bracket as Bring Me The Horizon is obscene.

Speaking of Bring Me the Horizon, this is the only song by them I actually like. I think it's cause the song basically admits that they're just a ****ty melodic metalcore band pretending to play death metal.

I don't understand why this stuff is called hardcore. Negative Approach is hardcore... and they sound absolutely nothing like this other "hardcore".



EDIT:

Dillenger Escape Plan songs seem to be an excuse to showcase what they can do with their instruments. Nothing I've heard by them is catchy or fun.... and everytime someone plays them for me the preceding comment is, "[t]hese guys are really technical...." which certainly doesn't bode well.
