So, I took stock of my collection thus far and decided I was in desperate need of raw, visceral sounds. Thus;

Antediluvian - revelations in excrement
Witchrist - the grand tormentor
Genocide Shrines - manipura....
Serpents Malignancy 3 way split
Portal- seepia
Vermibdred - vermidbreb.....
Vlad Tepes - an ode to our ruin

Portal are portal which is right just and good. Very influential.

Vlad Tepes are an old LLN band - this is their first new release in two decades! Vermibdreb ate a side project of vlad as well, supposedly more punk influenced.

I bought the newest Of Mice and Men album. I've never listened to them, but have heard good things...Anyways, this album was so bad that I honestly don't know if I will buy another album by that band.

I visited family in Seattle a few weeks back and went to some random record stores around the area. I bought the first Dillinger Escape Plan cd - Calculating Infinity. I bought a Dillinger cd with Mike Patton - Irony is a Dead Scene. As far as Metal type of stuff goes, that's it.

I just got my first record player and have started collecting vinyl. The first metal record to enter my fledgling collection is Candlemass Live - hope to add some more soon!

I heard that a lot of metal doesn't sound as good on vinyl. Is that true?

Depends I guess. The way vinyl distorts audio probably muddies up some metal albums too much.

I imagine the more wall of sound kind of extreme metal probably wouldn't sound as good. I don't listen to vinyl but I don't know that it would improve on Dying Fetus.

Why wouldn't you check them out on YouTube or something first? Would have saved yourself $10. Extraordinarily middle of the road metalcore if memory serves.

I've been patching holes in my physical collection for the past year. Most recent two that have arrived are Arch Enemy - Burning Bridges and Severed Crotch - The Nature of Entropy (despite the goofy band name, they play very solid death metal with a progressive/technical bent). Very excited to listen to "Silverwing" during the morning commute.
