Let me get back to you on that, I'm young lol. Don't usually go to shows by myself. But yeah, I'll have to think about it.

They're not coming close, unfortunately. Toledo isn't too bad, but I'd probably still have to get a hotel room, and I really don't have money to spend right now; it's already spoken for.

Though last time they were here, some dude laughed (joyously, not meanly) when the band walked out, and Maynard seemed to get uncomfortable...and sang the entire show from behind a speaker.

Maynard always performs the entire show in the shadows/ behind something/ at the back of the stage. I was lucky enough that he was somewhat visible when they came to Aus!

I think a lot of Tool fans are really just Maynard fans. The man has some serious fanatics for fans. He has some pretty good lyrics and his voice is okay, but what really draws me into Tool is Danny, Justin and Adam. Their music is pretty insane, and then you add Maynard to it and they make a really great band.

Tool wouldn't be Tool without the rest of the guys! See: A Perfect Circle, who aren't nearly as good (in my opinion) as Tool.

Then again, I don't think there should be any argument as to whether or not Maynard is one hell of a frontman; he is. Very strange, but compelling 100%.

Yes, he is strange. And can write some pretty interesting lyrics. Combined with the music, they give off a pretty strange vibe. I'm more a fan of his lyrics than his voice.

I also don't think APC is near as good as tool. I saw Puscifer last month, it was a great show. Maynard came out and had some pretty interesting dialogue with the crowd, said some spiritual things that were pretty thought provoking. I liked Puscifer before I saw them live, but I wasn't that big of a fan. After seeing them I certainly came out liking them more. I've never seen Tool and I am thrilled to. Only 9 more days, I can't wait. I'm sure it's going to be 100x better than Puscifer.

love Tool - cant stand 99% of their fans - I swear they have some of the most pretentious fans on the planet. Nothing is worse than that Tool fan who feels the need to educate those around them on why Tool is so great. Not to mention the ones who listen to Tool for a week and come back thinking they have a degree in psychology and the arts. Uggh.

Personally I think APC are great, and "Thirteenth Step" being the high point of Maynard's musical career, "The Noose" is "heavier" than anything Tool has ever done.

I know what you mean about their fans.

I just don't think anything that Maynard has done outside of tool is as good as tool because Danny, Justin and Adam aren't there. The rhythm between those 3 guys is just insane.

It does help Tool that Danny Carey basically has no contemporary drummers on his level. His style is unique, skills virtuosic and always has the right groove for the right piece.
