Many thanks, Mr. Salami. Tried to cover as many genres as I could.

Better than me, I just posted about power metal! I've not really had a good year for listening to metal albums, so I'll make sure to follow your recommendations.

I agree that Insomnium's vocals are wayyyyyy to quiet. The almost inaudible spoken word on the first track is about as loud as it gets unfortunately.

777 - The Desanctification is head and shoulders above any other metal release I've heard this year, and Sect(s) takes second spot. Cannot wait for Cosmosophy.

I'm not including Tunnel Blanket by This Will Destroy You, because it's debatable whether it's metal, but it would be right up there.

Some good stuff here that I will have to check out as I am so far behind with a lot of stuff.
From what I have heard these are mine:

Amplifier - The Octopus (Prog Metal still counts!)
Anthrax - Worship Music
Denial Fiend - Horror Holocaust
Hate Eternal - Phoenix Amongst The Ashes
Necrodeath - Idiosyncracy
Onslaught - Sounds Of Violence
Subsignal - Touchstones
Tree Of Sores - S.T

This may sound a little creepy, but I did come across your review of that Onslaught album on RYM, so did it warm up to you or was it just a slow year for you and metal this year?

Devin Townsend's Deconstruction. Such a badass album.

I think the scariest must be "Idiosyncrasy" be Necrodeath, probably the most awesome ever Italian metal band.

Also pretty odd is the naming of the songs: they are all given numerals rather than names, such as "Part III", "Part IX", etc.

Here's the most terrifying:

Not too creepy no seriously I didn't like certain aspects of the album but I popped it on the ipod and couldn't stop listening to it.

Serves me right for posting reviews too early! it has been a slow year for me though and no doubt next year I will find a whole bunch of albums that I would want to add to the list but I am always behind!
