Like always you need to listen to the albums, as the singles only tell part of the Alice Cooper story.

That album spoke to me:) He was actually huge when I was first able to buy my own records. School's Out, and Killer were two of the first LP's I ever bought with my own money. Catching chickens on a chicken farm. Boy, did the stink stick to you like glue! Five hours a night for 6 bucks.

Correction, sorry. It was 7 dollars:)

This was huge.

peace

Fantastic ballad, as well as I Never Cry. He is a very intelligent, and articulate man. Still. And, he loves golf like me.

Alice Cooper-From The Inside (1978)

This album was inspired by Cooper's stay in a New York sanitarium due to his alcoholism. Each of the characters in the songs were based on actual people Cooper met in the sanitarium.

I really only like the Alice Cooper songs from the late 80's and early 90's. Trash is good. And the uncensored version of "Poison" is :thumb: I am turned off by the theatrics in his shows.

I bet you`re a Bon Jovi fan as well.

Alice Cooper without theatrics is like a burger without cheese, mayo and ketchup.......tasteless.

Gee, thanks. Actually, not really. Most Bon Jovi songs are too bland for my tastes. Alice Cooper as a "hard rock" singer still used menacing lyrics and had dark music videos.

One thing I don't think Alice Cooper gets enough credit for was just how weird, fucked up and original they were when they first started.

I think people just see the classic rock Alice Cooper which is a shame because the Zappa influenced freak band era of the first couple of albums pisses over so many avant garde bands that are hero worshipped today.

In my experience it seems Alice Cooper is too mainstream for the outsider music fans to appreciate and this stuff is waaaaay too fucked up for the classic rock fans to get so it ends up being forgotten about.

I mean just check this shit out...

I would sell my mother to have seen that era of the band live.

I like Alice Cooper, but what would ever classify him as avant-garde? Definitely the video you posted makes me just think of a watered down Hawkwind. Space rock, maybe. But in the 60s, no way avant-garde.

With that said, Alice Cooper's original band was a ton more talented than credit is due. I personally enjoy many selections, but this statement is a tad in the area of hyperbole.
